OHMNO was formed in Toronto in 2011. Bands named "OHM" weren't such a common thing back then. We briefly considered the name "CRYSTAL METH ON METH" and looking back I'm not sure if we made the right choice. Some of the songs on this album predate the forming of the band, some were written in the last couple years and a few were improvised/fleshed out in the studio.

Between 2012 - 2016 the band took a break to have babies, learn bee-keeping, build frog ponds, travel the world in search of cursed Tiki Idols and read old comic books. When they decided to reunite and record a new EP it was done at Cherry Beach in Toronto. It was on a "smoke" break at these recording sessions where a Racoon family that lived in a Sound Academy (Koolhaus? Rebel?) Dumspter on Polson Pier led OHMNO down to the beach with the promise of something that would alter our perceptions forever.

Never one to question a Racoon family OHMNO's faith was rewarded when they saw the skies turn red, the clouds opened up and the Cherry (Beach) Beast emergeth. The Beast was a personification of the dark hearts of men and would consume and destroy everything in its path.

The Beach studio was no longer safe. OHMNO finished up the recordings under the ominous cloud and released the I AM THE BEASTMAN cassette to virtually NO ACCLAIM. It seemed the racoons had betrayed the band, perhaps they had collected one cursed tiki idol too many. It was the only explanation for the lack of instant global recognition.

The only way to escape the Beast(man) was to set up shop in a place of pure and holy energy, free from drugs, alcohol and the curses of men, the band found there Utopian City of the Future in the waterfront village of HAMILTON. Yes there were Blobmen, Mermaidmen, Dumpster Babies, Turkey Stranglers and Giant Bloody Eyeballs but most importantly the curse of the Cherry Beast (Beastman) was finally broken. It was the perfect place to write and rehearse there harrowing tale.

And now this haunted tale can finally be told, Ladies and Gentlemen may we present to you the CHERRY BEAST.
